Interesting side over the Haworth Old Post Office, with beautiful photo's.

 facebook/theoldpostofficehaworthRestoring the old Brontë Post Office to its Victorian glory...

This is the original location where Emily Brontë passed over her manuscript for her Wuthering Heights, Charlotte passsed over hers for The Professor (and subsequently Jayne Eyre) and Anne hers for Agnes Grey over the post office counter that is still there and here for all to marvel at, very soon… History in your hands right here.

The Parlour ~ Our 1st Floor Dining Room. This beautiful space seats 24 and overlooks the historic Main Street, Black Bull, and the church from the side window.
➕ This room retains the original wide Georgian floorboards, which have been carefully restored. The antique fireplace adds a sense of grandeur, and an original ‘Barraclough of Haworth’ grandfather clock feels quite at home here.
The cosy window seat has a handy charging point for a laptop; this is what we like to call ‘Charlotte’s Corner’, and is filled with antique prints relating to the life and work of Charlotte Brontë.
Opposite, the antique display cabinet is full of interesting items and artefacts relating to local or postal history.

Tabby Aykroyd.

Bronte servant, and inspiration, Tabby Aykroyd was buried #otd 1855. It's commonly said that she was unmarried and childless, but I believe she may have been born Tabitha Dawson, and was a widow with children. More details in the blog of Nick Holland:

Read this, very interesting

'The Misses Bronte's Establishment'

@Nick_Holland
A rare and precious advert for 'The Misses Bronte's Establishment', the school within Haworth Parsonage that Charlotte Bronte intended to start alongside sisters Anne and Emily. No pupils applied.

BRONTE BOOK FOUND!

Nick Holland
This tiny Book Of Rhymes, written by Charlotte Bronte aged 13, had been thought lost since 1916. "Sold by nobody" wrote Charlotte - it sold for $520 in 1916 and is now up for auction with an estimate of 1.25 million!

Two very important Charlotte Bronte rings.

Two very important Charlotte Bronte rings here: first, a ruby and diamond ring given her by Arthur Bell Nicholls and secondly her gold wedding ring.
