This is a blog about the Bronte Sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne. And their father Patrick, their mother Maria and their brother Branwell. About their pets, their friends, the parsonage (their house), Haworth the town in which they lived, the moors they loved so much, the Victorian era in which they lived.
It was such a lovely speech. Yet, it made me sad at the end, with that talk of "the happy bonnet for a short time". God. I wish both sisters, including Charlotte, lived longer, happier lives.
Lord, I was crying from the first few words. Why? Because of the presenter, Barbara's own great feelings. At times she can barely speak, such is her emotion and her wish to convey Charlotte's story . You can hardly tell she is speaking about events from 158 years ago...her feelings make them current .
You feel you are there as Charlotte puts on her bonnet just before the short walk down the lane to St.Michale's. and one feels there as she passes as well...

Certainly one would want happier lives for the Brontes. It's awful that just as they are making their mark,after a life time of struggle , 3 are gone in 8 months ...and really I feel for Anne who knew she wanted love and married early on. When you read her poems dreaming about it, it's heart breaking to know it will never come her way .
At least Charlotte knew it. If she had left this world years later , but without knowing that happiness, without being loved as Arthur loved her , with that amazing intensity that she understood as love and had found no where else ...it would be even sadder . Charlotte thought such happiness and love was not for her. Then she discovered it was indeed.
