Pebbles Anne collected.

From the Treasure Trove: Anne’s Collection of Pebbles. Anne visited Scarborough whilst working as a governess to the Robinson family at Thorp Green Hall. These pebbles were collected during summer vacations. facebook/Bronte-Parsonage-Museum

  1. These are called pebbles, but I think " semi-precious stones" would be closer to it! It looks like the stones are quarts of different colors and she seemed to favor rose ones.

It would interesting to know what makes up Scarborough beaches and if Anne's collection is typical or rare for the area

Just looking at these pretty things makes one feel better. Very likely when Anne felt the need for solace she would look them over too as reminders of happier times

How fortunate it is we have them today and I think it would please Anne her collection is still intact and giving enjoyment

...." for I love to give innocent pleasure"
