This is a blog about the Bronte Sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne. And their father Patrick, their mother Maria and their brother Branwell. About their pets, their friends, the parsonage (their house), Haworth the town in which they lived, the moors they loved so much, the Victorian era in which they lived.

On this day in 1847
Emily and Anne received six published copies of their novels, Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey from their publishers. haworth-village
It's fascinating that Emily and Anne's books were accepted before one of Charlotte's was , but those first accepted books only saw the light of print after and likely because of Charlotte's later run away success.
But It must of been interesting when the leader in the publishing endeavor( and other endeavors! ) was rejected while the younger two were accepted... how quickly things changed when Jane Eyre came out
It's also interesting how the younger women choose to stay with slippery Newby...rather than receive the red carpet treatment at Smith Elder.
