This is a blog about the Bronte Sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne. And their father Patrick, their mother Maria and their brother Branwell. About their pets, their friends, the parsonage (their house), Haworth the town in which they lived, the moors they loved so much, the Victorian era in which they lived.

On this day
On this day in 1812 Patrick Bronte and Maria Branwell were married at Guiseley Church.
On this day in 1843 Charlotte Bronte received a Diploma from the Pensionnat at Brussels.
Lovely art work for Maria and Patrick's wedding, Geri!
That painting of him always reminds me of the much later photographs
That diploma was the only certificate CB would get from M. Heger and they seem to have made up one for her to help her impress potential students !
It's fascinating M. Heger wrote the address of a boot maker on one of Charlotte's letters ( she was indeed at his feet) then he dropped them into the waist basket. But Madame picked them out , mended their tears and placed them snugly into her jewellery box... for they were indeed among her most precious jewels. ..they proved she was right
