This is a blog about the Bronte Sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne. And their father Patrick, their mother Maria and their brother Branwell. About their pets, their friends, the parsonage (their house), Haworth the town in which they lived, the moors they loved so much, the Victorian era in which they lived.
On this day in 1830, the twelve-year-old Branwell completed the 'Hermit'. Despite his pencilled claim that the image is "Original", it is believed to be at least a partial copy from a print.
It's the writing "original" that is the give away lol. Impressive and yet so prophetic. It reminds me of his later drawings while very depressed ...yet he's just 12.
Branwell reminds me of a young person playing a game, but then they grow to believe the play acting utterly and it then becomes real.
Each Bronte had a "world below " where they created their plays. How that other world effected their ability to navigate in this one is fascinating. Branwell and Emily stayed there, Charlotte struggled to leave and finally did , Anne simply left
