Here are Charlotte Bronte's evening pumps, lined with white rabbit fur! Look closely and you can see an imprint of her heel.

Her shoes on display at the National Portrait Gallery in London were fastened at the side too. Both pairs look handmade, which I guess they would have to be. Though not known for being fashionable, Charlotte was particular about her shoes. These look like they were made for London outtings. Thank you for posting!
