My lovely walk yesterday inspired me to write a poem
A Walk on the Moors
Maggie Gardener
Darkened clouds follow me
Dervish winds bite my soul
Dancing Rosebay point the way
Across the Haworth moor
Dervish winds bite my soul
Dancing Rosebay point the way
Across the Haworth moor
Derelict farmsteads sad and lonely
Dream of life that used to be
Sheep now graze where man once toiled
Across the Haworth Moor
Dream of life that used to be
Sheep now graze where man once toiled
Across the Haworth Moor
Streams and falls cast their spell
Becoming one with nature
You’re home at last they whisper
Across the Haworth Moor
Becoming one with nature
You’re home at last they whisper
Across the Haworth Moor
I will show you my awesome power
You”ll hear the north wind moan
A thunder clap, a lightening strike
Across the Haworth Moor
You”ll hear the north wind moan
A thunder clap, a lightening strike
Across the Haworth Moor
I will herald the heavens opening
With rains and hailstone storms
To quench the thirsty landscape
Across the Haworth Moor
With rains and hailstone storms
To quench the thirsty landscape
Across the Haworth Moor
I thank you mother dearly
But I did already know
I did not need your guidance
To cross the Haworth Moor
But I did already know
I did not need your guidance
To cross the Haworth Moor
