Emily used the word "wuthering" as a provincial adjective to describe the house's situation when exposed to stormy weather. I had to admit it was about as desolate and harsh as you can get and her fiery, tumultuous characters seemed entirely appropriate here in this rough environment. I love this. My married name (my husband's family name) is the name of a moor and village in North Yorkshire. After learning that, I felt even more of a kinship to the Brontes, knowing that was their landscape. Its so beautiful there, desolate and majestic. I'd love to visit one day.
